3-D Laser of Callidus at work
22-08-2001The Callidus laser is shooting at a high speed laser beams at the statues, registering the reflections. The Callidus technology is unique in the world and allowes for very accurate 3-D images of the statues. For the first time this 3-D Laserscan is used for an archaeologic site.
Nemrud Conference-1 at the Nemrud 16-18 August
16-08-2001At a conference with international experts, organised by the World Monuments Fund at the Nemrud, the restoration and conservation methods are discussed. Besides the experts, are participating Mr. Fikret N. Üçcan, the Undersecretary, Dr. Alpay Pasinli, General Director of the Monuments & Museums Directorate and other representatives of the Ministry of Culture, together with Mr. Bülent Akarcalı, MP, and Prof.Dr. Herman Brijder of the University of Amsterdam.
GPS Team-2 at work
11-08-2001GPS Team-2 setting up a satellite transmitter with the help of the representative of the Ministry of Culture. The GPS, Global Positioning System, makes use of the satellites orbitting the earth. GPS allowes for an accurate topographic mapping of the area and locating of the artefacts.
