NDP: Eagle and Lion statues

The bedrock at both ends of the row of statues at the East-Terrace has crumbled. The bedrock can not support the statues sufficiently. Both lions and one eagle have collapsed. The eagle on the south side was near to collapse.

The blocks of the lion were scattered onto the northern slope. These blocks were hoisted onto the terrace. The eagle was dismantled.

The joint base of the eagle-lion was cleaned. The crumbled bedrock was reinforced. The blocks of the base were arranged in full and the cavity filled adequately.

The eagle was re-assembled. As a test the shoulder block was temporarily placed on top. Only the head was missing. This test and the previous research proved that a complete re-assembling would be possible.
