Research into the structural stability of the colossal statues on the East-Terrace revealed their instability. The dangerous deterioration of the substructure under the statues caused a dangerous situation. In addition the Antiochos statue showed large gaps between the stone blocks. To preserve them, they had to be consolidated and, in some cases, restored.
The risk assessment showed that the statues of Antiochos and Herakles were in imminent danger. Even the slightest earthquake could cause Antiochos and Herakles statues to tumble down.
