The reliefs are now protected from humans and from the harsh mountain climate. The Dexiosis reliefs and the famous Lion Horoscope are safely stored in the restoration house, until today. Note: According to the Master Plan the reliefs are to be exhibited in the Nemrud Museum. The Nemrud Museum was scheduled to be built in 2007/2008.
Fragile sandstone reliefs and other artefacts can now be stored safely in the temporary Restoration House. The Restoration House is available to anyone intending to continue the works on Mt.Nemrud.
A replica of the famous Lion Horoscope relief is cast and waiting for transport to the Nemrud since 2004 (WT).
The heads of the statues are placed on pedestals. No longer there is a risk of water penetration from below and the growth of algae, or the risk of tourists who feel the urge to climb the platform to see the heads behind the statues (ET).
The Antiochos statue is re-assembled and stabilized. No longer there is a risk of total collapse caused by i.e. one of the regular minor earthquakes (ET).
The bedrock flanking the two sides of the row of statues is protected from further deterioration. No longer are the statues in danger of a total collapse due to crumbling foundations (ET).
The northern eagle statue and the platform is re-assembled and stabilized. No longer there is a risk of a total collapse caused by i.e. one of the regular minor earthquakes (ET).
